In Search of Our Next Artistic Director

Candlelight Concert Society (CCS) seeks a dynamic Artistic Director to build on our 42 year history of offering the Howard County, Maryland community a world-class Chamber Music Series by internationally-known musicians, a performing arts series for families (CandleKids Series), and numerous Community and Educational Outreach Programs.

Our Organization

CCS is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to present the finest national and international chamber music ensembles and soloists, to provide young people with a stimulating introduction to the performing arts, and to reach out to those with limited opportunities to experience the arts.

CCS has an annual budget of $232,000 with revenues derived primarily from ticket sales, grants, individual contributions, and corporate donations. CCS is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and employs a full-time Executive Director, part-time Artistic Director, and part-time Office Manager. We are supported by over 60 volunteers.

Our Next Artistic Leader

The new Artistic Director will play a vital role in developing artistic programming and collaborations that enhance the mission of CCS. Key areas of responsibility include identifying and booking touring artists and ensembles, artistic management of performances, and preparing narratives for grant purposes. This is a part-time, salaried position, with flexible hours with some evenings and weekends.

Experience Needed

  • Extensive knowledge of classical music and touring requirements (BA or advanced degree in Music)
  • Connections with artist managers and other music presenters
  • Strong contract negotiation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work within electronic mediums
